What is ThesisReady?
ThesisReady is a one-man design firm based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, run by me – Adam Barber. I build functional, profitable, and refined websites, based on the WordPress content management platform. The two key areas of my business are one-off custom design, and downloadable premium Thesis skins. Both routes are designed to help you expand into the online world the right way. They differ based on your progress, which is to say – rather than spend a huge percentage of your budget on a custom design early in the life of a new project, the Thesis skins give you a low cost, high quality option to start. A few months down the road, after you’ve discovered the value of a good website, custom design will let you bring things to the next level.
What is A Thesis Skin?
Thesis Skins, sometimes called “themes” are the easiest way to make the Thesis WordPress framework rock even harder.
By taking the guesswork out of creating an appealing, useable design, skins allow you to focus on what you’re good at, and leave the rest to me. It doesn’t make sense to spend days and weeks trying to find the perfect look for your website, when you can use a ThesisReady skin and move on to your core goal of content creation.
How Do You Help Me Achieve My Goals?
At the start of every new project, be it a a downloadable premium Thesis skin, or a one-of-a-kind website, I figure out what I’m really trying to achieve. Good design is about more than just looks. Do you know how your visitors move through your current site? Do you what actions they want accomplish? Have you tested any of these hypothesis to find out if they’re actually true, and inline with your customers? Probably not, and that’s what design is really about. Unfortunately, this is the part that other “designers” miss.
Successful online marketing efforts live in the overlap between the arts and the sciences, and thrive on attention to detail, and the understanding of how elements will interact with each other, and your visitors.
Why Is ThesisReady Different?
In so many words – because I care more.
I know my time and attention are limited in a pretty big way – and I respect that. This limitation means a few things. First of all, I accept fewer clients than most other designers in the market. In fact, I turn down about five to ten requests each week. Mostly because they don’t have a clear idea of what they REALLY want just yet. Secondly, I charge more per project – in some cases, much more – than the others. And that’s fine with me. If you need a stop-gap website built in a hurry, or don’t think that your online identity is a worthy investment of your resources, or are only looking to follow the latest web trend of the month, that’s also fine with me. I can suggest quite a few good folks who would love to work with you.
But I’m not one of them.
